Vehicle Description
For consignment, a 1937 Dodge 6 Series business coupe showing 275 miles, but the true miles are unknown. This all steel example was rescued from a junkyard in 1992 and lovingly restored by an automotive professional.
Exterior
From the side, this car evokes a single thought, round! Big arching fenders are mirrored in slope by the roofline and the business back end, and from this angle you see the car's definitive nose down raked stance, made possible by the staggered tire height on 15-inch Centerline wheels. Up front, torpedo shaped headlight housings perch on the sides of Dodge's unique grille which combines horizontal blades with vertical center strakes. Louvered engine covers are adorned with a trim spear which runs parallel to the piece that runs the length of the car. In back, the quintessential business compartment creates a glassy mountain of magenta paint where small tail lights rise above the sculpted bumper that keeps a circular theme. A single bubble comprises the list of imperfections we note.
Interior
Burgundy door panels include a vinyl upper half, stitched cloth lower, and billet style hardware and both present cleanly. 80s/90's era bucket seats in burgundy velour occupy the front and other than some compression, remain clean and intact. Behind them is a package shelf and storage wrapped in the same stitched velour and show ready, and this material also covers the tall, center console which has storage bin where a shifter would be and an AM/FM/Cassette radio under the center stack where we find an A/C panel housed in the magenta base. A mid century steering wheel fronts the painted dash which puts an AutoMeter speedometer in front the four more gauges in the center. While here, we noted some rough cut material on the A-pillar outside of the windlace. Tan carpet pieces are on the floor, a burgundy headliner above, and a barren trunk with a tubular boxed gas tank and tubbed wheel wells finish our tour of the interior spaces.
Drivetrain
Behind the engine covers is a clean 350ci V8 with an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor over an Edelbrock intake. It's mated to a TH400 3-speed automatic transmission that routes power to a Ford 9" rear on a shortened axle. This union of GM and Ford products is a tale as old as time and a proven winner!
Undercarriage
Clean conditions are found underneath as well with the driveshaft moving through the X-frame and also a driveshaft loop. Dual exhaust runs in tandem through Turbo mufflers and exits ahead of each rear wheel. Brakes are on board as disc front and rear drum and suspension consists of a Mustang II front end and coilovers with ladder bars in back.
Drive-Ability
Big, comfortable, and ready for business, we roll this magenta beauty out on the test loop where the well running 350 delivers good power and acceleration and the fat meats out back create a surefooted, straight tracking street rod. We note the wipers are not working but all other functions on this business special would all get a promotion due to their outstanding performance. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
If you're looking for a clean all steel rod that's been well sorted and essentially hand built, this one fits the bill. You can only pick one passenger, (which is sometimes a positive), but you can bring with you lots of stuff, a cooler, tent, folding chairs, and a kitchen sink. A great looking ride with A/C included!
Classic Auto Mall is home to more than 1,000 classic and collectible vehicles for sale via consignment in a climate controlled 336,000-square foot showroom (that's more than 8 acres!).
