1962 Corvette; partial project car... “fair weather roadster”. Has a one-piece, aftermarket front clip. No windows installed or operational wipers. Windshield is not caulked either. Car looks complete and is titled. Runs, drives as- is. Painted SUEDE white PPG primer. Vehicle was pieced together initially to see how everything fit together before readying for paint. But, life got in the way and it became a Saturday night cruise-in vehicle for many years... This is a DRIVER; It would never be a NCRS hi-point car!!!
Al Knoch red interior components. Seats, kick-panels, sissy bar and package tray are recovered or painted; Arm rests, door panels, rugs, dash pad, ‘boomerang insert’ still in boxes. (Presently INSTALLED components are all extras.)
Running a 59’ fuely engine (block) bored .040” over with double camel hump heads. Carter AFB., 327 c.i. block goes with car (has been boiled and magnafluxed). Have low compression pistons, hi-rise intake, cam, crank, etc... Posi rear; 3.70:1 ratio. Driveshaft could use new GENUINE (Not re-pop) deep penetraton yoke. (Some occasional vibration in drivetrain.) Has a Harrison cross-flow aluminum radiatior and expansion tank.
T-10 tranny, synchros were replaced but still pops out of second gear upon deceleration. (cluster?) No wonderbar radio. Have Alpine and other AM/FM cassette radios plus 8 track combo. Nice grille; not installed.
Has two hardtops. One complete but needs alignment. Other partially assembled. Has most parts and rear undrilled window. No lower stainless mouldings. Nice headliner. Have several brackets for soft top. No frame/bows.
Have stock wiper components including (washer) motor, towers, escutcheons, cable , washer push-button switch but no reservoir (was considering after-market stiff-arm conversion).
Has scissor-jack, crank, lug-wrench, 6:00 x16” spare tire under cover. (Car is running 16” radials)
Major chrome has been re-plated or buffed. Heater functions; no defrost but have dash outlets/fittings
Speedo and tach not hooked-up or functioning, other gauges all work. Clock is not running. Also have mechanical tach distributor but not installed.
Charging system is internal-regulator-alternator. No generator. New steering shaft and bushings not installed.
No weather stripping or window fur purchased or glued-in or installed.
Have extra 61’-62’ decklid and earlier vette’ (brass?) radiator to go with. Also, 3 sets of smallbock heads.
Have several sets of rocker mouldings plus both splash pans... NOT installed.
Also, when the car was being pieced together over 20 years ago, there was a slight voltage drain showing on the ammeter. A BMW battery cut-out switch was installed to avoid the dead battery problem. I did not install a stock “lock-off-on-start” ignition switch to thwart joy-rider temptation. The GM switch could be the problem or perhaps the main harness or radio clock. There are also STOCK LOOKING functional heater and defrost cables and knobs that came from other sources such as sedans but were modified to do their functions. There is also the need to pull the aftermarket hood release cable-pull and lubricate it... As is, the release is VERY sticky and is a super-hassle to open. So, the hood is left unlatched which isn’t a probelm as it hinges from the front.
