Vehicle Description
For consignment, a 1969 Ford F100 long bed pickup showing 65,386 miles, but the true miles are unknown. If we had to list the top five hot genres in the classic car market, certainly vintage pickup trucks, be them stock or resto-modded, would be on that list.
Exterior
Not all that different from the spec used in the sales brochure in 1969, this Candy Apple Red over Wimbledon White is a stunner, demonstrating the common two tone and often three level stacking of contrasting colors on pickup trucks, here delineated by polished molding. This two stage paint shines bright and 15-inch white painted steel wheels with hubcaps keep things original looking while the rear bumper is also white under the bright white paint of the stamped FORD name on the tailgate. The handsome face of this truck is dressed in polished metal, from the straight chrome bumper to the grille and headlight bezels that integrate amber turn signals just below. A solid rear window overlooks a clean painted bed. Overall, trim and paint is excellent. Imperfections include chips and scuffs on the hood, discoloration on a quarter panel, and thin scratches on the chrome bumper.
Interior
The glossy red door card is surrounded by a corral of black trim, and outside of that is more red and both doors present cleanly. A black grain vinyl bench with black piping looks new, complemented by red seatbelts. The red steering wheel gleams along with its silver horn ring and fronts a horizontal instrument cluster in a black and silver oval design, all under black dash pad contrasting with the shiny red dash that almost appears wet and houses an AM radio. Rubber matting covers the floor along with F100 branded carpeted mats and a black vinyl headliner is up above and like the exterior, the interior is show worthy.
Drivetrain
And the show continues under the hood where a spotless 302ci V8 resides, putting out 205 horsepower and fueled by a 2-barrel carburetor. It's three on the tree for this manual and power is routed to the Ford 9" in back with 3.50 gears.
Undercarriage
It's more driver quality underneath with there's some surface rust and some oil on the pan and crossmember. Beyond that, things are relatively clean. Four wheel drum brakes are on hand and suspension consists of coil springs up front and leaf springs in back. A single exhaust runs through a FlowMaster muffler and exits through a tip behind the right rear tire.
Drive-Ability
Imagine you're picking up your brand new 1969 long bed! That's exactly what this feels like and back in the day, this was as clean as it was ever going to be. The trusty 302 comes to life without hesitation and propels this good looking truck around the test loop with ease. It's just all around good with nice acceleration, great visibility, and straight tracking. Other than the radio, all functions work as intended and we roll this one back into the mall where you'll find it in one of the two truck rooms. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
A stunner, not much else to say. The truck speaks for itself. Its working days are over and this pampered pickup will need nothing more than the turn of a key when you want to head to cruise night or the next car/truck show.
