1979 represents the high-volume late C3 era and remains Corvette’s
all-time sales record year: the National Corvette Museum lists
53,807 Corvettes
sold/built for 1979 (all coupes). For 1979, Chevrolet improved the 350’s breathing with a
dual-snorkel air intake, a
larger-diameter “Y” pipe, and
open-flow mufflers, and automatic cars used a
3.55 rear axle ratio. Factory engine choices were the
L48 350 (195 hp SAE net) or the optional
L82 350 (225 hp SAE net). The cars retained hallmark C3 features including
removable roof panels and the
fastback rear glass design introduced for 1978, which improved rear visibility and added cargo space.

Offered on consignment for the owner, this is a 1979 Corvette coupe built in St. Louis with a D22 body build date (Nov 22, 1978) and TRIM 722 (Medium Red leather interior). The car is finished in red with matching red leather interior (per trim tag).
Engine / L82 note (important)
The car is badged L82, however the VIN decodes as an L48 car. It is possible the vehicle received an L82 engine swap at some point, but we cannot confirm the engine option/originality without documentation (build sheet/tank sticker/invoice) and/or verified engine stamping. Buyers should assume the VIN indicates L48 unless they independently verify otherwise.
