The Clevite MS2007H is an H-Series tri-metal main bearing set engineered specifically for the Ford 4.6L Modular V8 engine in Romeo cast iron block configurations. Originally developed for NASCAR competition, the H-Series design delivers an optimized combination of medium eccentricity, high crush factor, and hardened steel backing that makes it ideally suited for engines operating at sustained high RPM under extreme loads. The TM-77 tri-metal construction provides exceptional fatigue resistance, conformability, and load-carrying capacity, making these bearings the preferred choice for professional engine builders working on high-performance and forced induction Ford Modular builds.
A key distinction of the H-Series over the P-Series is the enlarged chamfers at the bearing sides, which provide additional clearance for oversize crankshaft fillets commonly found on forged crankshafts. The bearings are manufactured without flash plating, allowing for improved seating and superior bearing-to-cap contact under load. The half-groove oil distribution design ensures consistent oil flow to the connecting rod bearings while maintaining adequate oil film at the main journals. These characteristics make the MS2007H particularly well-suited for supercharged builds like the 2003–2004 Mustang SVT Cobra, turbocharged setups, nitrous applications, and any naturally aspirated build targeting over 500 horsepower.
This standard-size set fits the Romeo cast iron block used in a wide range of Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles from 1991 through 2011, including the Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, Town Car, Thunderbird, Cougar, select Mustang GT model years, Explorer, and E-Series vans. It is critical to verify whether your 4.6L block is a Romeo or Windsor casting before ordering, as the two block designs are not interchangeable for main bearings. The 1996–1998 and 2001–2004 Mustang GTs used Romeo blocks, while the 1999–2000 models used Windsor blocks. For crankshafts machined undersize, corresponding undersize variants are available.
