French made by Couesnon and stenciled as a “Studio Supreme”, this horn was likely made in the ‘50’s and was once considered a gem, but has obviously seen better days. It is a little too complex for me to take on as a project on my own (I am a player, but have limited technician skills.) It is missing a key touch button and the neck screw.
Great bones, and it features rolled tone holes and a double neck socket. But it will need many pads, and the octave rod somehow re-attached at the top or rebuilt. Lots of lacquer wear and some grime. Also has a bit of a dent on the bell lip and the neck cork is gone. Please see all the pictures. There is some kind of ugly solder work at the very top of the body and a slight denting at the thumb hook.
It does come with a stock, mouthpiece, ligature, and cap that are in pretty good shape though somewhat discolored. It also includes the end plug. The trapezoidal case is kind of cool looking and in pretty good shape for it’s age, with no musty smell. The keys move freely and to my eye, the body is straight.
I think I have described everything that is an issue large or small. It would sure be nice if somebody could bring it back to life.
Thanks for looking; keep playing.
