*Air Suspension System:
The Discovery LR3 LR4 own fully independent air suspension with cross-linking when off-road and the twin-range transfer gearbox with an electronic infinitely variable locking centre differential. As before, a similar locking rear differential is available. The Terrain Response system remains but with two new features – the 'Sand' mode incorporates a new traction control mode to prevent loss of traction when starting off and stopping in soft sand, and the 'Rock Crawl' mode gains a feature that applies gentle brake pressure at low (less than walking pace) speeds to improve grip and stability on slick rock.
Range Rover Sport air suspension system gives the driver the option of three ride height settings including a standard ride height of 172 mm (6.8 in), an off-road height of 227 mm (8.9 in) and a lowered access mode. There is also an extra height available which is accessed by holding the respective button for when the off-road ride height is not enough. When the vehicle bellies out, its control system will sense weight being lessened on the air springs and the ride height is automatically raised to the suspensions greatest articulation. The cross-link aspect of the suspension system, which debuted on the L322 Range Rover in 2002, results in better off-road performance by electronically operating valves in pneumatic lines which link adjacent air springs. In the event of a wheel on one side being raised when travelling off-road, the pneumatic valves are opened and the adjacent wheel is forced down, simulating the action of a live axle setup.
*Removal Guideline:
Caution: Damage to the vehicle and air suspension system can be incurred if work is carried out in a manner other than specified in the instructions or in a different sequence.
1.To avoid the possibility of short circuits while working with electric components consult your owner's manual on how to disconnect your battery.
2.Consult your vehicle owner's manual, service manual, or car dealer for the correct jacking points on your vehicle and for additional care, safety and maintenance instructions. Under no circumstances should any work be completed underneath the vehicle if it is not adequately supported, as serious injuries and death can occur.
1.Remove front wheel to expose the front air strut.(picture 1,2)

2.Disconnect The Electrical Connector.(picture 3)

3.Loosen and remove the three(3)top mounting nuts.(picture 4)

4.Loosen and remove the lower mount nut. Support the air strut and remove the lower mount bolt.(picture 5,6)

5.Carefully lower the air strut to gain access to the air line. Unthread the fitting, remove the strut from the vehicle.(picture 7)

6.Remove the air strut from the vehicle.(picture 8)

7.Remove the air line fitting from the air hose and discard. To remove the air line fitting, remove the collet and the remaining fitting will slide off of air hose.(picture 9)

*Installation Guideline:
Installation is in reverse order of air strut removal.
*Frequently Asked Questions:
How to prevent the damage of air springs/How to extend the service life of air springs/struts etc.?
An air strut with separable air springs
If your vehicle offers a separable air suspension (Audi Allroad A6 C5, Mercedes-Benz W164, BMW X5, etc.), you should regularly (about once a week) lift the car to the maximum position, and remove dirt with a high-pressure cleaner (keep the cleaner at a distance to the air spring about 30 cm/12 inches, otherwise water pressure can damage the air spring). The highest position may vary depending on your model and regulation options. Therefore, please test this by trying the different modes available to you (Sport, comfort, dynamic, off-road) and choose the one that sets your vehicle to the highest position. The dirt will most likely be found under the fold of the pneumatic chambers. If you find a frozen layer of bitumen on the piston guide (the part of a strut on which the air spring is installed), it is recommended to clean it as well. Whenever possible, avoid riding on fresh asphalt, as fresh bitumen mixed with sand immediately results in a build-up of abrasives on the piston and in turn contributes to accelerated wear and tear of the air spring.
A complete air suspension shock
Many cars such as Mercedes W220 or W211 are set up with a complete air strut - shock absorber and air spring visually form a complete spare part. In many cases, you can easily recognize these by the metal cups with which the air spring is tightly mounted. To best avoid any damage, we highly recommend to regularly check the condition of the dust protection seals of the air strut.
What is the difference between an air spring and an air strut?
The air spring is a part of the air strut. Some vehicles (e.g. Mercedes ML) allow you to change the air spring separately. At our online shop you have the opportunity to buy either the whole air strut or only the air spring. For some type of vehicles it is not possible to change the air spring separately. In this case the whole air strut should be replaced.
Which side of my car is the Right and Left?
The right and left sides of an automobile are determined as if sitting in the car facing forward. Thus, the left side is on the left when sitting in the car facing forward, and the right side is on the right. For American cars, the driver’s side is on the left, and the passenger sits to the right of the driver. For cars in Japan, Britain, Ireland, the Bahamas and some other former British colonies -- where they drive on the left side of the road -- the passenger sits on the left side, and the driver (along with all the driving controls) is on the right.
