These decals are made from period correct thickness vinyl. They are NOT thick like modern day dirt bike decals / graphics. They are printed and laminated for ease of installation and durability but still period correct thickness.
If you are applying these decals to a plastic tank please be aware the tank may hold fuel fumes in the plastic. You may need to restore your tank to release the fumes. It’s also a great idea to use a tank sealer as this helps stop tanks cracking. This also does not allow fumes to leech through the plastic lifting decals. If you are applying to a steel tank they can be cleared over when painting.
When applying these decals the soapy water method always works well as it allows you to perfectly align the decals and minimise any bubbling. You may also need to use a heat gun to set the glue and manipulate the vinyl when applying to curved surfaces.
