Why the original curve is outdated

The original Lucas advance curve was designed for 1970s leaded petrol, which burned differently to modern fuels. Today’s unleaded petrol requires a different ignition advance pattern to achieve efficient combustion, so the factory curve often results in sluggish throttle response and reduced mid-range performance.

This updated performance curve is calibrated to suit modern unleaded fuel, restoring crisp response and improved drivability.

Fast Road Performance Advance Curve

This distributor features a performance advance curve developed for modern unleaded fuel. Compared with the original 1970s Lucas curves, advance comes in earlier through the mid-range, improving throttle response and engine torque during normal road driving.

The curve is fully progressive and stable, reaching optimal advance by around 5000 RPM. This provides stronger acceleration, smoother drivability and improved responsiveness without the harsh timing spikes often found in worn or poorly calibrated factory distributors.
