The Rockford Fosgate Prime R600X5 is a 5 channel car amplifier with an RMS power output of 600W.
Rockford Fosgate is a premier car audio brand, one you shouldn’t be disappointed by choosing. They pretty much only make quality stuff, which is somewhat indicated by the price point they can command on the used market. I was a bit surprised to find only a few of them being sold on eBay, as I researched the item, which indicates to me that its owners are reluctant to give them up on the used market. And so was I.
As for me, I no longer own the car this amp was installed in. When I sold that car, I was dead-set on installing this amp in my next vehicle, but wound up not doing that because the sound system in my Corolla was pretty awesome as it were.
I like that there are 5 channels on this amp. That gives you the ability to use just one amp for the front, rear, and sub woofer speakers. I also like that you can establish a frequency cut-off for either the highs or the lows. That allows you to adjust which sounds are produced by each set of speakers. I like choosing a low frequency cut-off, like 60 hz, which keeps the music from sounding muddled or boomy, just tight bass, like I prefer.
Additionally, I can send only 250 hz and above to my little tweeters in the front, which helps prevent blowing those little guys out, when I crank it up, which I am wont to do.
I allow full frequency to the rear 6x9 speakers, because they’re pretty awesome speakers. But it’s cool knowing I can put a cut-off on the rear speakers as well, if I so desire. Lesser amps will limit your choices here, but not Fosgate.
With its high power output, low noise, multiple channels, and plenty of options to dial in the sound you want, the R600X5 is designed to help your car stereo system sound as perfect as your determination will dictate.
