The Japan Air Self-Defense Force's F-4 Phantom II all of which ceased operation in March 2021. As if timed to coincide with this from last year to the present domestic model manufacturers have been releasing a flurry of new Phantom products and the airplane model world is in a bit of a "Phantom festival." We'll be focusing on the F-4 Phantom which modelers are paying close attention to with a special feature ranging from the latest models to kits from veteran builders. The opening feature is the Monogram 1/48 F-4D which has captivated many modelers with its compelling form and powerful detail and is shown in stunning detail by Matsumoto Shuhei who knows all about its appeal. Also not to be missed is Shibayan's Hasegawa 1/48 F-4EJ custom with amazing resolution and full use of 3D printed detail-up parts which have recently been attracting attention! We'll also be introducing the Sundowners by Keyaki Sakuraku which incorporates trendy weathering techniques and Weathering Master Hayashi's Tamiya's latest 1/48 F-4Bs featuring the Marine Corps version tackled by Shuichi with the opposing themes of gloss expression and the coexistence of dirt are now available. The highlight is the Academy 1/48 F-4J "Black Bunny" by 0948. The attractive black aircraft is given a shiny mirror finish using the paint polishing technique that is unique to him who has worked on many 1/43 car models. The highly popular series "Nanani no Tamashii" also reveals the commemorative painted Hasegawa 1/72 RF-4EJ. The familiar "Minor Air Force Laboratory" features the Turkish Air Force RF-4E with a dark heroic appearance and "Modelers Abroad" which chronicles the works of talented overseas modelers features the British Phantom with beautiful coloring that only a European modeler can use. The series is all about Phantoms. Yu Teshima will be appearing in GALLERY OF THE NOSE ART QUEEN for the second time in nine years! You can enjoy a new side of her that is different from her usual gravure photos!
