Up for sale is a unique, profusely-illustrated copy of an out of date guidebook of the Hawai'ian island of O'ahu. Note that I am using the modern state-spelling usage and not that of the US Board on Geographic Names.
I used the book often while visiting the islands in 1995-2008, but only in my hotel rooms. The natural sights are still in place, but in and around Honolulu, the hotels have grown, changed, been replaced, as have the restaurants. If you want to use this guide for sightseeing outside of Honolulu DO IT by all means because they haven't moved any of the natural wonders outside the city limits. Traveling north or south or east out of the city brings one to [arguably] some of the most beautiful natural wonders on the planet. Whereas the military was a huge presence in the past, more gentle environments now exist. Instead of the beaches (there is a chapter on those) in Wai'kiki, rent a car or take THE BUS to the eastern (Kaneohe) side of the island, where local people gather for scenery and rest. Or go to the north shore for some of the finest surfboarding on the planet. Every December, the Duke Kahanamoku Surfing Classic competition comes to the North Shore, and if you are there, don't miss it. THE BUS stops right at the beachside.
Since I am now well over 80, travel is getting difficult so this "souvenir" of the past is more of a burden than a remembrance. I want to divest before my heirs have to do it for me.
I will wrap it in bubble wrap for added protection from the postal people.
Thanks for looking and good luck!
