This 1965 Superformance Cobra MKIII features a drivetrain built by the legendary Superformance expert, Ohltoff Racing, that provides a visceral driving experience! Superformance stands in a league of its own, delivering what is widely considered the finest Cobra reproduction available today. For this reason, Superformance is the only manufacturer of Cobras officially licensed, authorized, and endorsed by Carroll Shelby himself! What truly sets Superformance apart is that it's the exclusive builder granted full rights by Shelby to replicate his legendary 1960s race cars. Unlike kit cars that come in pieces and are assembled in garages by hobbyists, every Superformance Cobra is hand-assembled by skilled craftsmen in a dedicated factory setting. Superformance uses only new, top-quality parts-never salvaged or recycled components like those found in budget kits-ensuring a tight, rattle-free driving experience that rivals even modern performance cars. From the leather-trimmed cockpit to the precise handling and race-inspired engineering, everything about a Superformance Cobra is designed to deliver the authentic Shelby experience with modern reliability. This particular '65 Cobra comes to us from the estate of its original southern-based owner and caretaker, who commissioned and oversaw its incredibly impressive build that is fully documented with this car's included documentation. Under the locking hood is an Ohltoff Racing-built 408 cubic inch Ford Racing aluminum stroker V8 that is based upon a 351W architecture and it breathes through a smooth starting and running Holley 4 barrel carburetor mounted atop an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold. As one can expect with a premium Cobra build such as this one, the powertrain is absolutely loaded with performance upgrades! Firing up this premium Superformance MKIII is a total breeze thanks in part to the upgraded MSD electronic ignition system that also makes for a more reliable driving automobile. Exhaust exits the 408 Stroker V8 via a set of tubular headers and out through a set of side pipes that give this hand-built Cobra its unmistakable, roaring sound. The internals of the cast aluminum 408 V8 are also said to have been upgraded with performance-oriented, racing parts including an Eagle Specialty Products crankshaft and connecting rods, a hydraulic roller camshaft, and forged Trick Flow pistons. Further augmenting the performance of this massively powerful Ford Racing powerplant are a set of Trick Flow cylinder heads with Competition Cams rocker arms that surely add to the already impressive power output of this Ohltoff-built V8. As one can expect from the upgraded performance of this Cobra's powerplant additional heat is generated however thanks to an upgraded cooling system comprised of an aluminum radiator and oil cooler, as well as electric fans keep the engine and its systems cool especially at peak performance. Additionally, the 408 Stroker V8 is backed by a Tremec T56 6-Speed manual transmission that makes this Superformance Cobra MKIII an absolute blast to take down the road and go through the gears. This Cobra also sports a number of wonderful updates that modernize the driving experience as well. A hydraulic-assisted clutch makes shifting the Tremec 6 Speed feel almost effortless and more in line with a modern manual transmission car. Additionally, 4-wheel Wilwood power disc brakes make for another fantastic update on this retro-inspired build ensuring that you can easily and reliably bring this beast to a complete stop with next to no effort. Moreover, rack and pinion steering makes squeezing into a tight parking space at the local car show or rest stop on a car cruise a total breeze while maintaining a wonderful feel taking a tight corner. Further adding to this already amazing Superformance MKIII Cobra are a number of optional upgrades to the exterior including front and rear chrome bumperettes, driver and passenger chrome roll hoops, a driver's side racing mirror, dual wing windows, and a LeMans-style fuel filler door. In addition, this Cobra also comes with a color-matched removable hardtop as well as a removable black cloth soft top, side curtains and tonneau cover so that you can enjoy cruising in and showing off your Cobra in virtually any weather condition. Riding on a set of 17" polished Halibrand-Style Knockoff Wheels, each mounted with radial tires, this 1965 Shelby Cobra reproduction has a fantastic modernized look and feel whether parked or cruising the open road. The hand-laid factory-built Superformance fiberglass body is finished in Yellow 2-stage basecoat/clearcoat along with black painted Shelby-style rally stripes that together make for an eye-popping rig. Unsurprisingly, the factory installed interior of this 1965 Superformance Cobra MKIII is top-notch! The period-correct bucket seats feature German black leather that has a fantastic, high-quality look and feel, and they are also incredibly comfortable. The matching leather door panels and center tunnel, black carpeting and Superformance Cobra floor mats, and upgraded woodgrain Moto-Lita style steering wheel are in fantastic condition and further demonstrate why Superformance is the top-dog for Cobra builds. The matching dash features an impressive array of Smith and Lucas branded instrumentation including a period-correct reverse-sweep 180 MPH Speedometer, 8,000 RPM tachometer, oil pressure gauge, oil temperature gauge, amp gauge, engine coolant temperature gauge, and fuel gauge. The interior is finished off with several other options including driver and passenger tinted sun visors, Simpson racing harnesses, a rear-view mirror and locking glovebox, and even a 12-volt charging outlet so that you can keep your phone charged up. Whether you're buying your first collector car or you're an established collector adding to your growing collection, this 1965 Superformance Cobra MKIII would make an excellent choice.
