A 1966 Volkswagen Beetle, particularly those with chrome
accents, is a highly sought-after classic car, much loved due to its unique
features and historical significance. The 1966 model is particularly notable
for its larger windows, stainless steel door and hood handles, and improved
headlight switch, all of which contribute to its distinct appeal. Some specific
features of a 1966 Beetle.
Chrome trim
Stainless steel door and hood handles
Butterfly windows
Pop-out rear windows
Front axle double longitudinal trailing arm design,
allowing for more flexibility and control of the front wheel
Swing axle in the rear, allowing the wheels to move
independently
4-Speed
Manual Transaxle
Locking backrests for the seats
Features
Mechanical
and electrical: Vehicle upgraded to 12-volt for additional power. All four
wheels upgraded to disk brakes. Fuel pump, carburetor, alternator all new. Headlights
upgraded to LED. All lights, signals, wipers work. Horn is strong. Fuel and
airlines are excellent and well secured. JVC Bluetooth stereo will stay with
the car. New battery. Recent tune up; valve
adjustment.
Aesthetics:
Exterior is very clean overall. Just a few small flaws. I took zoomable images
from many angles. Pans on the bottom are great. Extra steps have been taken for
protection (protective coating underneath the car, in the engine bay, under the
hood).
Internal
aesthetics: Interior is nearly completely restored.
Accessories:
Original 1966 spare tire. 1966 jack. Tow bar specifically designed for 1966
VWs.
This beetle has
been garaged and treated with great care. Hagerty, who ensures this vehicle, suggests
$20,200 for this car in “good” condition. This car is at least that or better.
It has won awards at some local car shows.
***Car is being
sold as is. No returns.*****
