NO RUST! Lost indoor storage and reluctantly parting with this beautiful 1980 300SD. Originally a California car, the odometer is currently working and shows 136,200 miles. The car runs well, starts right up - even on cold mornings - and has no rust. Minimal blow-by with the "dancing cap" test. The engine does leak some oil.
I have several new parts for the car, or that will go with it, including a new driver's seat spring set and a driver 's-side door panel pull handle, both in excellent condition.
The car will need continuing work - mainly cosmetics and details such as replacing the driver's side door pull and seat bottom springs (parts supplied), some exterior nits and nats (seen in photo), and lubrication of all hinges, door handles, hood latch, seat tracks, and various hardware. It needs new wood furniture on the center console and some interior cosmetics.
Only the driver's-side power window works, and the passenger-side window is now off the track on the regulator. The heat definitely heats. AC does not work, but everything is there.
This is a non-sunroof car, but the seals on most of the rubber are beginning to age, and the car allows some water in when sitting outside in heavy rain, on the driver's side of the windshield. Also, only the driver's side window works. Wipers and lights work.
This is a great starting point for a collector to finish. I would have done so but for the storage issue (and I have several other Mercedes of this vintage, which are done and driven regularly), so I am looking to rehome this W116 to someone who will appreciate her.
