1981 Yamaha XS650
Just a FYI: While using Secure Purchase the buyer is not required to have Secure Purchase do the DMV work, just let them know that you would like the seller (me) to send you the title and you will do all the paper work for the transfer and plates.
Only 5,435 miles at this time, just a baby. This bike is ready to ride, everything
works as it should and maintenance has just been done. Only needs a
rider.
Recent things that have been done/added at around 5,200 miles:
The following are new:
- Battery (Yuasa)
- Handle bars(Renthal)
- Grips
- Side cover grommets
- Both oil filters
- UNI air cleaner foam
- EBC brake pads(front only, rear was fine).
- Stainless steel braided brake lines
- Carb kits
- Petcock rebuild
- Spark plugs(NGK Iridium IX)
- Stronger starter clip was installed (youtube it)
The engine and frame numbers match on this bike, Yamaha did it that way for this model.
In addition the valves have been adjusted to specs with new valve cover gaskets.
The cam chain tension has been adjusted to specs.
The carburetors have new kits and have been synchronized.
Oil change, fork fluid change and brake fluid change have all been done.
Original tools and owners manual.
Original handlebars, grips and brake lines included.
The tires are old and should be replaced but there is no dry rot or cracking (I would ride them as they are).
This bike looks great, runs great and is ready for a new rider.
No disappointments with this bike!
A little history on the bike
I always wanted a large parallel twin so when I saw this bike for sale I jumped on it. The owner I bought the bike from had it inside storage on the third floor for like 30+yrs. He was disabled and could not ride or push the bike. I had to take it down an elevator to get it out of the building. Since the bike was in such great shape I paid a premium and then invested some money to make it the way I wanted it. I change the handlebars, brake lines and grips. Changed all the fluids and adjusted everything. Went on a few rides like the DGR. I hate letting this bike go but need the cash at this time. I did the DGR ride in Naperville IL this year, I am at minute 1:06 of the video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1G7KPpjxQVs
