Realistic PRO-2003 Scanner Radio Receiver

Listed here is a vintage Realistic PRO-2003 Scanner Radio Receiver. The physical condition is excellent with several known issue that I am aware of. When first plugged in the scanner does nothing. After leaving it plugged in a few minutes and then inserting the power plug into the outlet the unit will come on, and the volume level and squelch controls appear to operate correctly. When you program say the weather channel into the scanner (162.5500) and with the whip antenna totally collapsed the station appears to come in normal with some noise in the background but as soon as you touch the whip antenna to extend it receiver goes in oscillation. The stronger the signal the stronger the RF feedback with the signal. This scanner is advertised as a 60 channel but the counter resets back to channel one when it reaches channel 50. Being that this scanner was manufactured in 1984 making it 42 years old I am not surprised one or more resistors or capacitors may have drifted causing the issue. This unit because of the physical condition when repaired will make a great addition to a scanner collection. The circuit board and the total scanner construction in whole is really something to look at being the technology of that era. The issues were there when I received this unit and while I had the unit apart to look for any mods (none found) and photograph the unit I cleaned the contacts on the plug-in chip and flex cables and cleaned both pots. Also removed and cleaned the keypad. None of that work cleared any of the issues. I did not test every designed operating function so there could be other issues with this unit. I really do not have the time to troubleshoot and fix the issues, so I am listing this unit as a parts unit AS-IS with no returns. Unit comes with the whip antenna only, no original box or manual. Please view all the photos and ask any questions if needed prior to bidding. This listing is for the US lower 48 states only. Note: I am in the process of downsizing at this time and will be listing a few times during the week all sorts of vintage transistor and tube radios, vintage parts, test equipment, communication equipment and vintage electronics with many items going back to the early 20th century so please save me as a seller and check back often.
