Installation and Technical Tips
No Degreasing Required: Unlike traditional rotors coated in oil, the G-Coating is ready to install out of the box. Do not use brake cleaner on the coated areas, as the coating is designed to be worn off by the pads only on the friction surface while protecting the rest of the rotor.
Bed-In Procedure: To achieve maximum performance, follow a break-in cycle: perform 5 moderate stops from 40 mph to 10 mph, followed by 5 light stops from 35 mph to 5 mph. Allow the brakes to cool for 10–15 minutes of driving without coming to a complete stop.
Hub Maintenance: Use a wire brush to remove rust from the wheel hub before installation. A perfectly flat mounting surface prevents lateral runout and ensures the rotor rotates without pulsation.
Wear Sensor Replacement: BMW models utilize a one-time-use brake wear sensor on the rear passenger side. It is highly recommended to install a new sensor with this kit to ensure your dash warnings are reset and functioning correctly.
