Snap-on rethreading dies are highly tempered for strength and durability and are hex shaped for use with a socket or wrench. Rethreading dies remove nicks and burrs and are for chasing work only — they are not intended for cutting new threads.

For quick visual identification, rethreading tools are color-coded with metric components gold, National Fine sizes in black and National Coarse sizes a bright silver.

For longer tool life and easier cutting, frequently apply Snap-on CL6 Cutting Oil to the tool's cutting edge.
