Own a piece of motoring history.
Offered for sale is a 1953 (currently titled as a 1950) Citroen
Traction Avant. Debuting in 1933, the Traction Avant was the first
successful front wheel drive unibody car. Its stunning good looks are
paired with four-wheel independent suspension that gave a ride
quality better than any mass-produced car on the road at its
introduction, and still better than most other cars in 1953.
This is the 11B
version with a 1,911cc engine and three speed manual transmission.
The car was purchased in 2019 and shortly thereafter developed a
transmission issue. The engine was sound but due to the design of
the engine and transmission should not be run with the transmission
issue.
Car was purchased from Dave Burnham who
reportedly put $12,00O worth of work into the car in 2019 including
carburetor, fuel pump, ignition coil, Pertronix electronic ignition,
shock absorbers, wiring harness, brake master cylinder and front
wheel cylinders.
Engine work included valve job, head
planing, new rings, cylinder sleeves, and rod bearings.
Gas tank was cleaned and coated by Gas
Tank Renu.
The car currently shows 77146 km. The
body is in fair condition: the paint has weathered but is
presentable. The interior of the car shows typical signs of wear.
Would make a good driver with the transmission fixed, or a good
candidate for restoration.
A previous owner imported the car and
registered it as a 1950. That is what the current title says and car
will come with a clear 1950 title. According to Dave Burnham it is
actually a 1953 but was never corrected on the title.
A spare transmission to fix the car is
available but not included in the auction.
Buyer is responsible for arranging
their own transporation.
